This is going to be a very nostalgic project for me. One of the first things that got me interested in 3D was spaceships, particularly Star Wars spaceships. Many of the first 3D projects I worked on were based on the Star Wars universe. However has time has gone on I have lost interest in that particular genre and have since moved away from it completely. A little while ago I decided I wanted to take a little trip down memory lane and model a Star Wars ship again. It’s really been a lot of fun and has reminded me of the enthusiasm I had for 3D when I first started.

A small update here. I have started work on some other projects and this one has been pushed to the side for a while. I am starting to feel motivated to jump back on it again. I finished the main hull section. It was a bit tricky as the topology of a regular 3D sphere doesn’t lend itself to cutting all 6 sides off with a smooth line. I had to get a bit tricky with my sphere topology and eventually figured out a way to create the shape I needed.
